Dear
Soulmate Manifesters,
This weekend we went to see the new Garry Marshall film
Valentine’s
Day which stars half of
Hollywood’s
A-list including Julia Roberts, Ashton Kutcher, Bradley Cooper, Jessica
Alba, Jessica Biel, Queen Latifah, Shirley MacLaine, etc, etc.
I totally enjoyed this fluffy, light-hearted two-hour film that
featured two of my favorite TV guys – Eric Dane and Patrick
Dempsey (both from Grey’s Anatomy).
When it was over, Brian who bless his heart sat through it with me,
asked me what I liked about it. I thought about it for
awhile….and finally told him that “it’s
like eating cotton candy – sweet, pretty, and fun.”
I began to wonder…what is it about sappy love stories and
romantic comedies that capture our fancy? I decided to ask an expert,
psychologist Dr. Gay Hendricks.
He explains
it this way: “Growing up, girls have a great deal more
opportunity to create fantasies and scenarios of love…later
in life these movies remind us of these earlier sweet, innocent
feelings.”
Is there a benefit to seeing these kinds of movies? “Yes,
anything you can do to trigger these feelings has a healing
benefit…it’s like dipping
your nerve endings in
honey.”
Should men see these
films? “Actually, love stories can open
them up and teach them relationship skills. Successful relationships
depend on your ability to be present with your own feelings and your
partner’s feelings. Often in a romantic comedy, the heart of
the story is about clearing up some kind of communication glitch. We
don’t get much training in that in school, so watching movies
can teach us how to do this.”
So, what is Gay’s favorite film about love? Moonstruck
starring Cher and Nicholas Cage. “I love this film because
one of the big lessons in it is to hold out for love rather than
settling for less. Hold out for the passions of your heart.”
Amen to that.
Wishing you love, laughter, and magical kisses,
Arielle

THE
SPIRIT WHISPERER
There’s a special language that transcends time and
space—a language that’s not constrained by the
limitations of just words—but one that consists of signs,
symbols, energy, and thought. A language that can only be heard when
one truly listens. It’s the language of The Spirit Whisperer.
This work chronicles John Holland's career to date and includes some
enlightening and heartfelt real-life case studies.

The
Reincarnationist
By M.J. Rose is equal parts modern-day thriller, historical fiction and
love story. The exploding bomb in Rome that nearly took news
photographer Josh Ryder's life triggered in him a series of wildly
strange historical flashbacks. Memories of his past lives in ancient
Rome as Julius, a pagan priest in a desperate mission to save his love,
and in Victorian New York as Percy Talmage, son of the Phoenix
Foundation founder, haunt Josh as he tries to bring his episodes under
control. Rose's engrossing thriller effortlessly leaps to and fro
through the centuries. Dramatic suspense and intriguing characters
expertly set the stage for this first in a series.
